Small Business$55 a month ($660 a year)$70 a monthUnlimited users, 4 numbers, unlimited extensions

From Grasshopper's pricing page, annual and monthly billing (annual, monthly), read November 2, 2026. Each plan card adds "*Pricing subject to sales tax."

Grasshopper charges per account, not per person. That is the single most important fact about its pricing: on Solo Plus and Small Business you can add users without the bill rising, as long as the extensions and numbers in the plan cover them. Calling minutes are listed as unlimited on all three plans (Grasshopper).

Grasshopper's page says "Annual savings over 20%." Checked against its own prices, paying annually saves $48 a year on True Solo (22.2%), $84 on Solo Plus (21.9%) and $180 on Small Business (21.4%). Its FAQ says service "is provided on a monthly or annual basis" and that "upgrades take effect immediately, and downgrades take effect starting the following billing cycle" (Grasshopper).

Discounts at checkout

The pricing page headline reads "Get up to $75 off your first purchase" (Grasshopper). With annual billing selected, the True Solo card shows an additional $20 off at checkout and the Solo Plus and Small Business cards show $75 off; with monthly billing selected, the cards show $15 off. These are first-purchase offers, so the renewal price is the list price above.

Solo Plus or Small Business? It depends on extensions and numbers

Small Business costs $30 a month more than Solo Plus on annual billing but includes 4 numbers and unlimited extensions. Solo Plus can be stretched with $3 extensions and $9 numbers. The table shows the monthly price on annual billing for each mix:

1 number2 numbers4 numbers
3 extensionsSolo Plus $25 / Small Business $55: Solo PlusSolo Plus $34 / Small Business $55: Solo PlusSolo Plus $52 / Small Business $55: Solo Plus
5 extensionsSolo Plus $31 / Small Business $55: Solo PlusSolo Plus $40 / Small Business $55: Solo PlusSolo Plus $58 / Small Business $55: Small Business

13 extensionsSolo Plus $55 / Small Business $55: EitherSolo Plus $64 / Small Business $55: Small BusinessSolo Plus $82 / Small Business $55: Small Business

Solo Plus: $25 plus $3 for each extension over 3 and $9 for each number over 1. Small Business: $55 with 4 numbers and unlimited extensions. Before sales tax and texting fees.

The rule of thumb: with one number, Solo Plus stays cheaper up to 12 extensions and ties at 13. Once you need 4 numbers, Small Business wins from 5 extensions up. A solo owner who wants a second number (for example a toll-free line) pays $23 a month on True Solo with one extra number, or $276 a year.

Plan price on annual billing plus $9 for each number and $3 for each Solo Plus extension beyond what the plan includes, times 12, plus texting registration ($19.50) and 12 months of the $1.50 messaging fee. Before checkout discounts and sales tax.

A first-purchase discount lowers year one further: up to $75 off on Solo Plus and Small Business with annual billing, per the plan cards. Year two is the list price.

What no Grasshopper plan includes

  • Desk phones for sale. Grasshopper is built around its apps; its FAQ says a VoIP desk phone with an internet connection should work and calls can forward to any number (Grasshopper).
  • International calls. Billed per minute by country, and switched on through support.
  • Premium numbers during the trial. Popular area codes and 800 numbers are excluded until you pay.
  • A phone menu on True Solo. The plan table shows a dash for Interactive Voice Response on True Solo, so the menu starts on Solo Plus (Grasshopper).

From Grasshopper's trial FAQ and pricing page.

Money-back guarantee: the pricing page says plans are "Backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee" (Grasshopper). The page does not explain how that works on an annual plan after the first week, so ask support before paying for a year, and use the free trial first so the week of the guarantee is not your only test.

How to cancel Grasshopper

Cancel through Grasshopper's support team, and plan the order of steps before you do. If you are keeping your numbers, sign up with the new provider and start the port first: a number can only move while it is still active on the old account, so close the Grasshopper account only after the new provider confirms the transfer. Ask support to confirm the date service ends and how any remaining annual term is handled, and download voicemails, recordings and texts you want to keep before that date.

Grasshopper's extra numbers cost more than most, which matters only if you need several. Its texting fees match the carrier registration charges other providers pass on. The bigger difference is the pricing model: everything else on this list charges per person.

Is Grasshopper worth the price?

For one to a handful of people sharing a business line, yes: $25 a month billed annually covers everyone, which per-user systems cannot match at three or more people. It is weaker value if you want desk phones supplied (Grasshopper sells none and is built around its apps), many numbers, or international calling included. Per-user alternatives and team-size costs are compared on Google Voice vs Grasshopper and cheapest business phone service; the verdict on features is in the Grasshopper review.

Monthly or annual: which to choose

Annual billing is about a fifth cheaper on every plan, but it commits you to a year, and the only refund term on the pricing page is a 7-day money-back guarantee. Start monthly if you are still testing whether one shared number works for your team, or if you expect to outgrow Solo Plus within the year; upgrades take effect immediately and downgrades from the next billing cycle. Switch to annual once the setup has settled.

Ways to keep the bill down

  • Pay annually if you are sure: it saves $48 to $180 a year depending on the plan.
  • Count extensions before choosing Small Business; up to 12 extensions on one number, Solo Plus is cheaper.
  • Skip texting registration if you never text customers: it saves $37.50 in year one.
  • Record your own greetings instead of the $75 Voice Studio option.
  • Use the 7-day trial on your own calls before paying, keeping within its 50 minutes.
